Growing up in the Midwest, Christy was blessed to spend time in the bustling city of Chicago, IL, and idyllic Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She loved the benefits both locations had to offer, but when it was time to go to college she knew she wanted to head south to enjoy warmer weather year-round. After touring a variety of campuses, the University of Texas popped on her list. She immediately fell in love. The college was phenomenal, and she was attracted to the people, culture, and vibe of Austin. After moving there in 1989, she never looked back. She graduated from the University of Texas in 1993 with a degree in Geography.
While in college, Christy began to work for the Travis County Parks Department and enrolled in the Police Academy, something she never thought she would do! Christy was given the opportunity to become a commissioned a police officer, assigned to the parks. She went on to receive certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician and a PADI Rescue SCUBA Diver.
When her children were born, Christy dedicated her time to becoming a stay-at-home mom. While she cherished every moment with them, she was ready to return to the workforce when they entered pre-school. Looking for a part-time position, Christy started working as a broker’s assistant and found herself enjoying the opportunity to learn more about real estate. As she progressed through her career, she realized that she desired to open her own firm.
After obtaining her license and helping thousands of clients, Christy moved into management, later advancing into leading entire business centers. She spent several years working through all channels of the industry, in both small brokerage shops and large conglomerates. She worked to understand all details, even if it was outside of her direct job function. It was important to learn all avenues of the business and discover the intricacies of each company’s style. Through her experiences, Christy took mental notes of the policies, procedures, and value propositions she held dear, knowing she would implement them in the future.
Growing up, Christy’s dad was her coach, cheerleader, and biggest inspiration. His background in business, the military, and life hobby as a pilot played an influential role in who she is today. From early on, he ingrained in her a competitive spirit, accompanying the importance of fairness, ethics, and kindness; values that continue to drive her. When he died, Christy was devastated, but knew she would find a way to honor his legacy. Christy’s mom, who now calls Cedar Park home, is an incredibly strong woman who has taught Christy to stay focused, strong, and determined, no matter what challenges come your way. With this foundation, the Freedom 512 Real Estate Group was launched!
Christy is an adrenaline junkie; the spirit of adventure is in her DNA! She loves to experience new things, accept new challenges, and she finds competition in everything! Christy is an avid sports fan, particularly a football fan (Go Bears! Hook ‘Em Horns!), and she is a yoga devotee. She adores travel and has been to 42 out of 50 states and been to six foreign countries.
