My wife and I met Darrell as a listing agent showing his client's house to us. He was different from all the other agents we had met. By the end of the showing, we knew we had found the agent we wanted to work with. The house he showed almost worked for us, but just wasn't the one. We are an indecisive, detail oriented, research-crazy couple. We asked Darrell so many questions about properties and the process of buying, we lost count. We changed areas of interest by a spread of 60 miles. He showed us house after house until we found the one. I never felt pressured or a hint of inconvenience from Darrell. He was very informative while remaining objective. If he didn't have the answer, it arrived promptly. Email, text, and calls were all answered right away. I tend to be a bit alarmist; my wife is the same. House buying is not a stress-less experience. It was so nice to have an agent that knew exactly what to say to bring us back to earth with empowering respect. We now have the one and it's all thanks to Darrell. He was able to negotiate a spectacular price (in a seller's market!) and, after explanation, added things into our contract that we didn't know we needed. His expertise saved us on multiple accounts. Darrell helped us find a condominium for our daughter in the Seattle area. This was no easy task, as she lives in Seattle but her father and I are in California. So, the process involved considerable research and communication between all of us. We inadvertently made the process even more complicated by pursuing two different properties only to decide neither would do after making the initial offer on each. Darrell was phenomenally patient with us, and so helpful to our daughter, finding several suitable properties to show her within her price range. I can honestly say that without Darrell's help, we would not be in a home right now, or rather in the home we wanted. My wife and I worked with Darrell on the purchase of our first home, after working with another agent who didn't produce. Darrell by comparison was fast, responsive and worked aggressively on our behalf in what was and is a very competitive market. We had everything working against us... a tight price-range, a short time-frame, a specific area, a specific style home, a lack of inventory, and the most competitive market imaginable. Darrell really took the time to understand our situation and requirements, and went to work for us passionately. I was extremely impressed with his overall knowledge, of the process, the different areas, negotiating and tactics. It was in fact his tactics that made it possible for us to buy this home I'm sitting in right now. Darrell managed to get us in to see this home within hours of it being listed. He was so good at helping me and my wife, that we will use him everytime. I've used him twice now and everytime he has saved us money and made us money. He's a former contractor so he knew what to look for when the inspection came. He also could give you ballpark estimates on repairs or any upgrade to your home, so you knew what you were looking at in the future. We got in contact with Darrell when he was originally working as an agent independently with the MLS. We requested a contact through their website and he responded. At that point we had just begun the process of exploring buying a home. Little did we know that Darrell was so good, we would have an offer down within the month. He handled the negotiation, setting up tours of places we suggested and he suggested, and since we bought the home 5+ years ago, has stayed in touch consistently as a friend. This man is the IDEAL for a real estate agent. He also used to build custom homes and because of this has real experience for walking through a site in progress and noting the good and bad work being done by the builder. Full disclosure, I wrote a review years ago, after Darrell Steele helped my daughter buy her first home. It's been five years since she bought that place, and three since the review, and while I could figure out what account I used and edit that review, it makes more sense to do a new review since this is an entirely different home purchase. Through an unexpected turn of events I and my husband found ourselves suddenly relocating to the Seattle area in January of this year (2017). While we knew the area somewhat as our daughters live here, we had a lot to learn about the various neighborhoods, home prices, and purchasing in a brutally tight seller-driven market. While we were in a reasonably good position as buyers (having sold our SoCal home, with money in hand and a loan lined up), if we hadn't had a top notch realtor we would probably be regretting our move today. Our prior experience with Darrell Steele had been a condo purchase with our daughter, a fraction of the value of what we were now considering, and in a much more buyer-friendly market. The purchase this time around was considerably more challenging. It involved monitoring the real estate listings daily, even hourly, trying to find, tour and bid on a series of desirable houses before they were each snapped up by other buyers, because the market is seriously that tough in Seattle right now. Darrell is both a top notch negotiator, and a realist. He let us know what to expect and guided us on how to best play the bidding war game. His background as a contractor gives him exceptional insight into the condition of any dwelling you might be considering, a major plus for new homebuyers. It saved us from unpleasant surprises, and reassured us as we considered the real value of potential homes (tough to do in a market where the list price is only a starting point) Darrell ultimately secured a solid contract and a great deal on the home we finally purchased. Throughout the entire process he not only put up with our countless (and often extensive) calls and texts, he responded to each one quickly and thoroughly. Thanks to his expertise we closed escrow in 21 days, and there were no unpleasant surprises in the contract we signed or in the home we bought. I've met and dealt with more than my share of realtors over the past year, between selling our home in California and buying our home in Washington. None, and I do mean none, has held my respect the way Darrell has. I unhesitatingly recommend him if you are looking for a realtor who is both a seasoned pro, and who will really be looking out for your interests with thoroughness and patience throughout the entire process.
