An Eagle native, Derek’s enthusiasm for the Treasure Valley was solidified early on as a child. From wakeboarding in the canals or floating the river, skiing at Bogus Basin, to bucking hay on local farms and cheering on the Broncos –there never seemed to be a dull moment!
Derek attended Eagle High School where he excelled in the classroom and on the football field. He was an integral part of the 2001 State Championship team and garnered interest from several collegiate programs. He proceeded on to play at Boise State University and was a 4-year starter for the football team from 2003-2006. His college career culminated with a win in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners; his place in Bronco history solidified with a touchdown catch on 4th and 2 in overtime.
Derek’s blue-collar reputation, intelligence, and competitiveness landed him with the Buffalo Bills in the 7th round of the 2007 NFL Draft. After retiring from the NFL, Derek moved to Salt Lake City near his brothers and started a family of his own. His passion for real estate led to licensing in Utah and investing in multiple properties, all while obtaining an Accounting degree and working in corporate tax.
It would not be long before his love of Boise pulled Derek and the family back to Idaho. After a short move back in 2016, he recently completed his Masters from Boise State and now resides in East Boise (and loves every minute of it!). Derek enjoys meeting new people, hearing a funny or interesting story, and finding DIY projects around the house. Free time consists of being a dad to his three children, fishing, biking, and working out.
As a professional and real estate advisor, Derek recognizes and values the trust that clients place in him. His mission is to exceed client expectations while adding value through professional, fun, and personalized service.
