Personable and attentive, Erik has been a realtor in Boulder since 1992. He loves serving others, negotiating deals for his clients, and working hard to give his clients the best experience possible.
While Erik is originally from Anchorage, Alaska, he traces his roots to Boulder, CO, where his great-grandfather was a professor and pastor, and where his mom attended Boulder High School until 1947. Erik came to Boulder for college, where he attended the University of Colorado Boulder, and graduated with a degree in International and Intercultural Communication. He relives his college days as a debater through spirited conversations with his kids, and he tries to go skiing on every bluebird day he can.
Erik has worked for most of his realtor career under the mentorship of Gail and Ed Mock, of Mock Realty, where he previously worked for 29 years. He has been a long-standing member of the Colorado Association of Realtors’ Housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHOF) through the Boulder-Area Realtors’ Association, which works to guarantee affordable housing. He has also served as a director for the Boulder Area Association of Realtors.
Erik is also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder, where he was on the building committee for New Horizons, where he helped to develop the $12 million build for a permanently affordable housing initiative for seniors, a new Fellowship Hall, and underground parking garage.
Erik is married, and he loves spending time with his wife, Kathy, and his three grown-up children Michael, Rock, and Sophie. He loves skiing, cycling, and camping in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. He lives in the Lake Valley neighborhood in Niwot, and he loves taking his dog, Gizmo, for walks on Open Space.
What is your professional priority?
Erik aims to provide a comprehensive approach to selling homes. Everyone has ties to their homes; these are the places you raise our children, where you celebrate big life events, and where you have countless memories. He likes to form personal relationships with his clients, so that he can appreciate their connection to their house, and so that he can help them weather the difficulties that can come with buying a new home.
Erik also wants to make buying a home as simple and painless as possible, so that his clients can rest assured that he will be there for them through the whole process, and he will be doing as much as he can to alleviate their concerns, streamline the home selling or home buying process, and to find the perfect home for his clients.
Erik uses his 29 years of experience communicating and negotiating with his fellow Realtors to arrive at a Win-Win transaction. He values his relationships with his local Realtor community, and those relationships often benefit his clients. Other agents know that he works hard and ethically for his clients.
What do you love about living in Boulder County?
The abundant access to the outdoors, whether it is Open Space trails throughout Boulder, or the steep hikes along Mount Sanitas or Chautauqua, there is always a new place to explore.
Erik loves the growth mentality of Boulder and the people who live here. This is a city of imperfect people who are trying their best to effect change. So many people and organizations are committed to equity, to changing the community for the better, and to making Boulder a more inclusive place for all.
What do you like to do for fun?
Erik loves to go skiing in the winter, biking in the summer, and he likes to explore new breweries year-round!
Favorite Local Restaurants
The Cork in Boulder, The Sink, Spirithound Distillery in Lyons, and Avery Brewing in Gunbarrel.
What he really likes about being a realtor?
Erik loves the flexibility in scheduling that being a realtor provides. In setting his own hours, he has been able to attend so many of his three kids’ activities. He counts the sometimes-odd work hours and the open scheduling that realty has afforded him with countless hours of carpooling to soccer practice, smelly shoes after basketball games, and picking his kids up from school. Having non-traditional hours has allowed Erik to split the burden (he means joy!) of parenting more equitably with his wife, although he will be the first to admit that he is the Silver Medal to his wife’s Gold in the Parenting Olympics…
