About Ian
My name is Ian Chandler, and I’m a real estate broker with Home & Ranch Sotheby’s International Realty on California’s Central Coast.
If you’ve read agent bios before, you already know the usual lines—real estate is my passion, I love helping people find their dream homes, I’m a marketing expert, and I work with everything from condos to multi-million-dollar estates. All of that is true. What matters more is how I work, and why clients trust me with some of their most important decisions.
I grew up in South Lake Tahoe. My mother was a real estate agent, my father a general contractor, and every summer I worked alongside them. Even so, I never planned on a career in real estate. I originally pursued engineering, earning my degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2012. That engineering background still shapes how I operate today—analytical, process-driven, and relentlessly focused on identifying friction points and eliminating them.
When I entered real estate, I didn’t start with easy wins. I built my business helping owners who had failed to sell with other agents—often after months or years on the market. These were frustrated sellers with little trust left, many of whom had already cycled through multiple brokerages. Winning those clients required more than optimism. It required precision.
I focused obsessively on the areas where listings break down: pricing strategy rooted in real demand, marketing that actually reaches qualified buyers, disciplined communication, and transaction management that removes uncertainty rather than creating it. That foundation taught me exactly why homes don’t sell—and how to fix it.
Today, I bring that same rigor to every client I serve. Whether I’m representing a luxury estate, a coastal home, or a first-time buyer, my standard does not change. High-end service, thoughtful strategy, and proactive execution are not upgrades—they’re the baseline.
On a personal note, I’m married to my wife Hannah, who somehow manages to balance grace, intelligence, and raising our seven children. When we’re not working or shuttling kids, we spend our time doing what drew us to the Central Coast in the first place—beaches, trails, local events, and the communities that make this area special.
If you’re buying or selling on the Central Coast—or simply want a straight answer to a real estate question—I’d welcome the opportunity to help.
