About Jim

Are you interested in Paso Robles, Lake Nacimiento & the Central Coast? Give me a call. Where you are looking for a house in town, a country property, vineyard or winery, or a getaway out at Lake Nacimiento, I have represented Buyers & Sellers of all types for over 25 years. I'm a native, raised on a registered Angus Ranch in the hills west of town where I still have a portion of my family's original ranch. I went through elementary schools in Paso and then went off to a small Benedictine school in Woodside, CA, then off to Harvard where I majored in History. I served on the USS Enterprise as the Assistant Legal officer which cured me of the desire to go on to law school! Instead I travelled & lived in Africa for two years before returning home to help my mother with the ranch, while earning my Master of Science at Cal Poly. Life took a different turn when I discovered the Grand Canyon so I became a boatman guiding on whitewater rivers in California, Idaho & through the Canyon. You could say I took my retirement early! But it was a wonderful time and a fortunate one as it was in the Canyon that I met my wife, the artist Anne Laddon. We have two kids, both grown now, and are very involved in the arts community having started Studios on the Park, a non-profit art center located in the center of town opposite the City Park. Additionally I have been honored to serve for 5 years as the District One (North County) Commissioner for the SLO County Planning Commission. I have twice been President of the Paso Robles Association of Realtors, & twice been recognized by my peers as the Realtor of the Year. I continue to serve our members as a California Association of Realtors Director, having served as Chair of the Transactions & Regulatory, Taxation, Land & Environmental committees.as well as the Issue Mobilization PAC. Use I have earned the Lifetime Achievement Award from RE/MAX and have received numerous sales awards, mostly notably having been recognized as one of the top 100 agents worldwide in 2012. I continue to work for greater professionalism and education among our members, and am a strong believer in Article 11 of the Code of Ethics ("one should have competence in the area in which they are working")! (Paraphrased but I hope you get the meaning!)
My service at the State Association has been recognized by being selected as a Director for Life, and just last month (September 2025) I was honored, and totally surprised, by being named the 2025 Distinquished Realtor of the Year!
