Joel learned the finer points of business by watching his father, Paul, make a lasting impact in the community as a leading agent and broker. He couldn’t help but notice how hard his father worked and how truly passionate he was about his career. Throughout his youth, Joel played baseball and was always a great athlete who put as much effort into practice as he did game time performances. While attending Cypress College, his team won the state championship and he learned a great deal about himself through the sport. He ultimately graduated from Cal State Fullerton and then set his sights on real estate. At first, he worked alongside his father to learn the ropes—the Kott family traditions of exceptional service—but he knew that true success would only come when he ventured out on his own and created his own opportunities. That’s exactly what he did.
