Joel Torres

Joel Torres was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California where he worked for years as a beach Lifeguard, Trainer & Rescue Boat Operator. He comes from a first generation family where his parents moved from Honduras to America to chase the American dream. They taught him the value of hard work, perseverance, and also to be a positive member of society is key to success.
There, Joel attended West Los Angeles College where he received his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Studies. Looking for a change in pace one year, Joel decided to visit an older brother in Charleston, South Carolina. He decided the change in pace was what he was looking for and in 2019 made the move, and let’s just say the rest is history!
Joel has been residing in the West Ashley area of Charleston for over 14 years now. He has served the County & City of Charleston in a multitude of ways through his work as a Water Safety Public Officer, and in 2011 won the Harry Bellavita City of Charleston Employee of the Year award.
After years of serving the public in an aquatic capacity, Joel decided to take things on land, to help the public with their Real Estate goals! Joel is always striving to better himself through each transaction, and since becoming an agent, has obtained the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation, Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR), Sellers Representative Specialist (SRS), Real Estate Negotiation Expert (RENE) Certification, At Home With Diversity certification, and C2EX endorsement (Realtors commitment To Excellence) just to name a few.
During these courses he learned the techniques and skills needed to help his clients get the absolute best deal!
Joel currently sits on the board for the Global Business Chapter of CTAR and went through the CTAR 2023 Leadership Academy, and SCR 2024 Leadership Academy. He also serves on the 2025 Board of Directors for CTAR, and 2025 SCR BOD and as well as various other committees.
When not helping clients and customers achieve their goals, Joel loves spending time with his wife, Marie and 3 fur babies. In his free time, he and his family enjoy traveling and spending time at the beach.
