In my other career, I excel as a maintenance planner, which affords me the opportunity to be in close proximity to many different tradespeople and talk shop with them extensively. I strive to keep current on market rates, practices, and keep a close eye on the demand of these important people. It's also a great opportunity for some excellent referrals when I am renovating my own homes.
In addition to my numerous connections with people that have the skill get a home into tip top shape, I have great experience planning projects, estimating, project management, and scope of work development. In my effort to continually hone skills and acquire new ones, I'm an active voluteer with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter and serve on their core crew build team. It's an amazing experience and opportunity to put an enormous amount of good back into my own community, help families locally, and learn new skills that teach me what it takes to successfully build, remodel, and manage a variety of projects.
