Kat Barry

Kat Barry is an accomplished Realtor, seeking to empower people through home ownership while supporting the incredible communities of Chicago. She is obsessed with Chicago architecture, neighborhoods, and history.

As the team leader of Modern Living at Compass, she has built a Chicago Association of Realtors top producing team that is consistently ranked in the top 250 agents in Chicago. Modern Living is a team of female identifying agents who work in the city of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The team provides a personal and high touch approach to real estate while Compass provides state of the art technology and service.

Listing and marketing homes, as well as ROI on home improvements are my specialties. Her average sale to list price ratio is 99%, and average time on market is half the city average. She is a Certified International Property Specialist and National Association of Realtors GREEN designee for my expertise in green homes and eco-friendly retrofits to Chicago’s historic housing stock.

Kat began her real estate career in 2004 and have been an industry leader in Madison, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. She is currently a host and producer of American Dream TV, Chicago where I feature local vegan entrepreneurs, Lake Michigan lifestyle, and real estate. Kat has been featured in Who’s Who in Chicago Real Estate, Chicago Magazine’s Top Agent profile in 2021, is a two-time nominee for the Chicago Reader’s Best of Chicago awards for Best Real Estate Agent, on two seasons of HGTV's "My House is Worth What?,” have worked as a columnist for Realtor Magazine, and was named one of Realtor Magazine's 30 Under 30 in 2009. She also earned the At Home with Diversity certification from the National Association of Realtors and am the author of the quarterly newsletter, “Modern Living with Kat,” which is dedicated to healthy living in the home space.

In 2013, she co-authored The New Chicago Diner Cookbook and helped to open the Chicago Diner’s Logan Square location. Kat was also one of the organizers of the first-ever all-vegan pop-up market in Chicago. She continues to be involved in Chicago’s vegan community and animal advocacy groups.

Kat studied French Language and Literature at the University of Michigan and is a Member of the UM Alumni Club Chicago and the Alliance Françoise de Chicago.

Kat Barry primarily sells properties in the Chicago neighborhoods she have been spending time in since the 1990s: Wicker Park, Humboldt Park, Logan Square, and Bucktown.

She lives in the Logan Square historic Boulevard system with my partner Michael. She loves to cook healthy, plant-based meals and maintaining an active lifestyle filled with travel, yoga, swimming, dance, books, music, and natural wine.
