About Katherine

Katie brings extensive local knowledge, trustworthiness, and unwavering drive to the Martha’s Vineyard real estate market. She is committed to making the selling or buying process seamless and enjoyable.

A Connecticut native and longtime summer resident whose childhood was spent growing up along Ocean Park, she deeply appreciates what a special place the Vineyard has been for her family all these years. Katie first moved to the Vineyard year-round to pursue a career in real estate after graduating from Fairfield University. Her first position was at Sandpiper Rentals, Inc., the sister company of Sandpiper Realty. Her talents were quickly recognized by the founder of Sandpiper Realty, Inc., Sharon Smith Purdy, who took her under her wing. Together, they worked closely as partners, and Katie ultimately evolved into the successful independent agent and top producer she is today.

A well-regarded professional, Katie has been praised by both clients and coworkers for her acute attention to detail, responsiveness, hard work, integrity, and superb communication skills.

When she is not serving clients in real estate, Katie takes pride in donating her time by giving back to the Vineyard community. She is actively involved with Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, an Island-based social service nonprofit that serves a third of the Vineyard community through various programs and services that include assistance with mental health, early childhood education, domestic violence, and recovery. Since her involvement in 2019, she donated a portion of each of her sales to MVCS. Katie also serves as a member of the Affordable Housing Committee for the Town of Oak Bluffs.

Katie and her husband, Todd deBettencourt, a custom home builder and native of the Island, feel fortunate every day to call the Vineyard home.
