I went to work for my father in his construction company when I was about 12, at first building decks and then moving up to work with the framing crews and trade subcontractors.
While working part time at the Virginia Capitol for Delegate Butch Davies, I attended Randolph-Macon College; majoring in Political Science and History.
Upon graduating from college, I went to work for Kappa Sigma Fraternity as a chapter risk management consultant. This position allowed me to travel all across the United States and Canada for two years.
In 1998 I returned home to Culpeper and became a sales agent for my father's homebuilding and land development company.
During my time in Culpeper, I was appointed to the Planning Commission for the Town of Culpeper, where I served for 9 years, 4 years as Chairman.
My wife and I enjoy sailing and traveling (when we can) and have one child and one Golden Retriever. I live on the north side of Charlottesville near Earlysville.
My background in new construction allows me to look at homes with a builder's eye. My experience with the planning and zoning process also gives me a depth of understanding for by-right zoning, administrative divisions, boundary line adjustments, etc. that most laymen do not possess.
In my spare time, I'm still active as a volunteer for my fraternity, as well as volunteering time with Habitat for Humanity and AHIP.
