Born and raised in Marysville and Yuba City, Lloyd attended local schools and was active in agriculture leadership and sports.
1974: Graduated with honors from California State University, Fresno, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agribusiness and a chemistry minor.
1976-1984: Employed by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Farmers Home Administration. Eight years of experience in residential and agricultural lending and appraising. Served last three years in County Supervisor position.
1985-1987: Fee Appraiser for Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).
1987-1989: Joined the Sutter-Yuba Association of Realtors. Real Estate Sales Agent for Shamrock Realtors
1989 to 1996: Employed by Interwest Homes Corporation. Seven years of experience in Sales, Appraisals, Property Management, and Subdivision Development.
1996 to 1998: Worked at Interwest Homes Corporation as a commissioned sales agent.
1998 to present: Owner/broker at Lloyd Leighton Realtors.
1993-1996: Board of Directors: Sutter-Yuba Association of Realtors 1993 Director at Large 1994 Secretary-Treasurer 1995 Vice-President 1996 President-Elect 1997 President 1998 Immediate Past President.
1994-1999: California Certified General Appraisal Certification
