Melanie Griswold brings a wide breadth of experience as a real estate broker, investor, lawyer, land use consultant, certified residential property manager, and former Vice Chair of the City of San Jose Planning Commission and Development Director for Republic Urban Properties. Since graduating Harvard Law School in 2004, Ms. Griswold has practiced law at the highest level, including eight years at one of the nation’s top law firms and three years as a real estate fraud prosecutor for the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office. Ms. Griswold’s legal practice now focuses on land use, real estate syndications, and using state housing laws to solve difficult development challenges. Between 2020 and 2021, Ms. Griswold was the responsible broker overseeing more than $250M in real estate transactions. She is actively involved in a number of development opportunities and has successfully consulted on numerous large and small-scale projects, including a 200-unit multifamily rental project in Mountain View, a proposed General Plan change in San Jose, and a new condominium project in Sunnyvale.
Ms. Griswold is actively involved in the community and believes strongly in giving back. She is the 2022 chair of the Government Affairs section of the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors, a CAR Board of Director, and has been a frequent speaker for SCCAOR and the National Association of Realtors. Ms. Griswold has taught trial techniques at Stanford and currently serves on both the Santa Clara County Bar Association’s Law-Related Education and Judicial Evaluation Committees. In 2019, Ms. Griswold commitment to education and ethics earned her the Bar Association's highest honor, the Bryl Salsman Award. In her free time, Ms. Griswold enjoys spending time with her husband Jimmy and chasing after her twin boys Dean and Demetri and her daughter Rose.
