Patrick Devaney

Patrick’s career in real estate has brought success and introduced me to a variety of interesting people. He loves helping folks as they navigate the more than occasionally bewildering world of buying or selling a home. As real estate professionals, we sometimes forget that the average person does not engage in such transactions thirty or more times each year. What we accept as a routine occurrence often seems like a roller coaster ride to others. He likes to see himself as a seatbelt – a source of comfort and security – someone who can be trusted to provide a level of protection and assurance.

But as much as he enjoys selling houses, real estate is simply what he does. Who he is at the core is a man blessed by a thirty-plus-year marriage to Judy and the father of a pair of magnificent adult sons, John, and Tom. Along with their faithful dog, Lucky, they bring joy, fulfilment, and peace to his life.

In the last eight years, he has discovered two new interests. In 2014, he leapt out of his comfort zone and participated in the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile hike that begins in France and treks over the Pyrenes Mountains to the final resting place of St. James. 2020, an odd year for all of them, was supposed to be his sixth time on the pilgrimage. Patrick will renew his tradition soon.

The Camino sparked my second endeavor – writing. When he came home from his first Camino, he recorded my adventures in a book entitled Two Million Steps. In 2021, he released his first novel entitled High Crimes Against the Crown also centered around the arduous journey.

As Patrick writes about characters, real and fictional, he recognizes areas in his own life he wants to improve. It remains his most earnest desire to use every day to improve as a husband, as a father, as a friend, as a professional, and as a human being.
