About Suzanne
Suzanne Bergmann is proof positive that there are indeed career “second acts” in life! She personifies someone who’s worked hard, has a wealth of life experience, and possesses all the innate skills and personal values to make her a welcome addition to The Ralston Group Team.
Her childhood was spent in Connecticut. Boarding school in Maine was followed by liberal arts studies in Virginia (she holds a B.A. in English/Creative Writing from Sweet Briar College), all punctuated by time on the lacrosse field and numerous other academic and extracurricular activities. Her first job out of college was as a first/second grade teacher and middle school lacrosse coach at the Shady Hill School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Husband Michael’s pursuit of a JD/MBA led them to Charlottesville, Virginia, where Suzanne joined a multi-service law firm and was responsible for legal support to its active and dynamic real estate practice. Her responsibilities included administration of and attendance at all residential closings, preparation of sale, purchase, and mortgage loan documents, title searches, and maintenance and disbursement from the Real Estate Fiduciary Account. Fifteen years in Washington, D.C. followed, the first of which was spent working for NationsBank spin-off AMRESCO, where she coordinated obligations on behalf of sellers and resolved property title, survey and related issues in the settlement process. Additional responsibilities included integration of asset managers, the legal department, brokers and other agents in the closing process. Suzanne’s early work in real estate fostered a lifelong love of the field.
Focused on raising a young family while Michael continued his law practice, she became deeply involved in school activities—classroom support, fund-raising committees and soccer coaching in particular—and volunteering in animal advocacy organizations. In 2005, Suzanne and Michael decided that they’d try something completely different and moved to Boise even though they had no prior connection to the city: it has been home ever since and they couldn’t be happier about it (their then school-age daughter and son were skeptical, but they will tell you it was the best decision ever made).
Suzanne’s commitment to family and community has continued and deepened here in Boise. She is presently serving her second term on the Board of the Idaho Humane Society, and she is a past President of the Parents’ Association of Riverstone International School, from which both her children graduated and where Michael served two terms on the Board. In their free time, you’re as likely to find Suzanne and Michael backcountry flying, working out at the Y, cooking a great plant-based meal or taking advantage of everything else this City of Trees makes so easy to enjoy.
With children Leslie and Bayard now off pursuing careers and advanced degrees, Suzanne is leveraging her education, early career and life experience as a professional Realtor. Having bought and sold residential properties both as family homes and as an investor, she’s seen first-hand just how important it is to have a skilled, trusted real estate advocate. Suzanne’s natural communication gifts, coupled with attention to detail, hard work and market/transactional knowledge ensure that her clients are in the very best hands.
Suzanne enjoys meeting and working with interesting people from diverse backgrounds. She genuinely loves real estate, the peace of mind that comes to a seller from a smooth sales process and the joy that the right house can bring to a new owner. You’ll always know that when you work with her, you have a trusted, honest and careful ear, one that not only listens but more importantly hears what you have to say. That’s what Suzanne would want for herself and so it’s what you will always get from her.
