Tara Meekma

If you ask Tara what’s most important in her life, it’s easy – her family. Her daughter Darby, her partner Michael, and his son Ben are everything to her, followed closely by her extended family in Iowa. Small town life with her family gave her a strong faith, reliable work ethic and what it means to live with integrity.

When it comes to real estate, Tara works tirelessly to make sure her clients have the best possible outcome. One of her most memorable deals was helping an elderly client who was a bit of a hoarder clean out years of debris and junk, eventually selling her home for more than the asking price – all without her client having a phone or email! Of course, every client has their own story that makes them unique and helping everyone who crosses Tara’s path is what truly makes her tick.

Naturally outgoing, Tara loves talking to anyone and everyone! She loves analyzing each client’s situation and articulating the possibilities for them. This helps Tara navigate the transaction process with her clients in a way leaves them feeling heard, supported, and well represented. Tara’s family is one of entrepreneurs, led by their father who has had a 45+ year career as a financial advisor/insurance agent, who still does a robust business even though he’s semi-retired! In her own business, Tara strives every day to model his approach by listening and asking great questions, being genuine, friendly, humble, and always leave people smiling.

Tara attended Northwestern College in her hometown of Orange City, IA, majoring in Mass Communications with a Business Emphasis. She also attended the University of Iowa to study sports journalism and spent one year as an intern for the Chicago Bears (the highlight was watching Prince perform Purple Rain IN the rain during the half-time of a Super Bowl in Miami). In her free time, Tara is working out or playing outside trying to teach Darby new sports (her current fave: tee ball!). Making big Saturday morning breakfasts for the kids, attending sporting events, or simply hanging out at home are all favorite activities. Tara always loves when she has a trip on the horizon to look forward to. Adventures in Italy, Istanbul, Singapore, and Thailand as well as a cruise that started in Monte Carlo and ended in Barcelona are all memorable travels.

More than anything, Tara loves being a mom. Her greatest hope for the future is to show her daughter that a woman can be a strong, successful career woman AND a mom; a good person that cares about others and leaves the world a better place.
