Why Live in Arden Terrace
While Arden Terrace is mostly known for Kaiser Hospital and surrounding retail districts, locals know the collaborative spirit of this neighborhood. “It’s a very tight community,” says Brianna Jimenez, a local and the General Manager at Leatherby’s Family Creamery. “All the kids play sports together and go to the same schools. We have all the youth soccer teams come in for ice cream, and we’re very involved with the schools and their fundraisers. Because there are a lot of kids in the area, we take pride in hiring them and teaching them with their first job.” Arden Terrace isn’t just for ice cream fans and families, though: many first-time buyers have arrived in search of cheaper housing prices, and some residents have been here since the 1950s. Because of Kaiser Hospital in the north, healthcare workers and traveling nurses are a big part of the population; government workers are here, too, since federal bureaus have offices just west. “You can drive in any direction and get what you want,” says Jimenez. “I have grocery stores right down the street from me, and Sac State is a 5-minute drive. Plenty of people don’t have cars and walk.” Besides being this neighborhood’s east-west
