A common nickname for The Rivers master-planned community, West Sacramento’s Lighthouse neighborhood stands on what was once the Lighthouse Golf & Country Club. Development in the neighborhood began in the early 2000s, including the addition of several private parks and swimming pools, and new construction has continued into 2025. “There’s a good mix of housing, some more attainable and some higher-end luxury housing,” says Christopher Brown, a principal broker with NEXT Real Estate Group who specializes in new construction. Many of the larger custom builds are set along the banks of the Sacramento River, with easy access to riverfront bike trails. Only a few miles from downtown Sacramento, just across the water, Lighthouse’s empty lots are quickly filling in as it becomes one of West Sacramento’s most popular communities. The Rivers’ first homes finished in 2005, but plenty of new construction is still available as of spring 2025, including new traditional homes and condos. About 250 of the community’s homes are in gated areas, though all residents can access private amenities. Many properties have Spanish Revival-style elements like barrel-tile roofs, while others feature
