The midway between the Twin Cities
Hamline-Midway is where the Twin Cities meet. The neighborhood is named after its central location and Hamline University, Minnesota’s first university. Located about 7 miles from St. Paul and Minneapolis, this community has a lot to offer, with proximity to a wealth of amenities, both outdoors and in terms of local shops and eateries in the area. There’s a selection of classic homes including bungalows and foursquares that give the area a suburban feel, but residents are never far away from going to a trendy restaurant or local drinking spot along Snelling or University Avenue. The community is zoned to the St. Paul Public Schools district, and is also home to Hamline University, a private institution offering various undergraduate and graduate programs.

Traditional homes for great prices
Convenient commercial thoroughfares give way to residential streets with established homes, from laid-back bungalows to spacious American Foursquares. While the neighborhood is home to many two-story Victorian houses, there are many homes with a more modest feel than the distinctive architecture of Summit Hill and other historic St. Paul communities. “The homes face well-used sidewalks, and the streets often have bike paths or lanes along them,” says Mary Schumann, a Realtor with Keller Williams Integrity Realty. Home prices range from smaller bungalows for around $200,000 to fully renovated properties for up to $800,000. Thanks to alley-facing garages, “The public areas are cleaner looking, and the focus is on landscaping and lawns, not a car or garbage cans.” Schumann says, which also gives a "very private garden feel to backyards, which are generally fenced."
