A popular community for young families, the neighborhood has established, well-kept homes and strong public schools that are within walking distance, while nearby parks offer plenty of opportunities for play and sports. The area is also a short drive away to downtown Los Gatos, where locals can find many restaurants, shops and entertainment options.

Neighborhood setting and housing options in Blossom Crest

Even though the neighborhood is still fairly close to city amenities, Blossom Crest itself is quieter, with tree-lined streets, community parks and diverse housing options. “This is a neighborhood where you raise a family in, and most people stay put for a long time and don’t move away,” says Bill Robertson, Realtor at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage with 25 years of experience. “There are homes from the 1950s and 1960s, and people can make their houses bigger as families expand.” Buyers can find single-family homes from the 1950s to the early 2000s. Condos and townhouses were mostly built in the 1970s.

A-rated public schools serve Blossom Crest students

For primary and middle school years, most students are served by the top-rated Union School District. “Union has fantastic schools and is one of the most desirable school districts around San Jose,” Robertson says. “Parents enjoy this area because the elementary and middle schools are both within walking distance,” says Erfan Modir, Realtor with Intero Real Estate Services. “Kids end up staying together in schools throughout their education — it builds a strong community.” Union School District has interdistrict transfer options and school choice, and students may apply to enroll in charter schools, magnet programs or schools outside their attendance zone. Students can go on to Leigh High School, which is in Campbell Union High School District. The high school offers dual enrollment courses through West Valley College, and is rated by Niche as one of the top high schools for athletes in Santa Clara County.

Families can also send their children to private school. Nearby options include Stratford School San Jose – San Anselmo Way Campus, and the kindergarten through 12th grade Harker School, which provides over 20 Advanced Placement courses and has a 100 percent college acceptance rate.

Getting to work via major state routes and public transit

Blossom Crest is near California state routes 17 and 85, allowing access to the Bay Area. “Even though the area is a bit farther down south from downtown, commuters are not that far from major highways,” Robertson says. “Many people in the neighborhood work in tech. Most of the jobs are in Fremont or Cupertino,” Modir says. “Their commute usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes.” The San José Mineta International Airport is about 10 miles away, and those seeking public transit can take Valley Transportation Authority buses for getting around the city.
