A centrally-located residential area with diverse offerings in San Marcos

Residents of the mobile home neighborhoods, Palomar Estates East or Palomar Estates West, enjoy a calendar of community activities and clubhouse amenities. Palomar Estates homes are situated within a wider suburban locale that hugs the 78 freeway. Chris Erickson, the longtime North County San Diego resident and Realtor with the Beach Life Group of Compass, says, “Outside of the manufactured home community of Palomar Estates if you live in the residential areas surrounding Bradley Park, you just say that you live in San Marcos.” Residents here are proud to reside in what many consider the fastest-growing city in California. Its central location makes it just as easy to reach the ocean as it is to hike through the mountains or relax at Lake San Marcos.

Locals can spend hours at Sunset Park's athletic fields and playgrounds

Locals can walk or bike to the 20-acre, multi-recreational Sunset Park on Poinsettia Avenue. Area youth play outdoor sports on lighted fields and courts or indoors in the turf arena. Sunset Park is also outfitted with a disc golf course, two playgrounds, a concession stand, walking trails and a popular splash pad. A handful of shopping plazas are packed with shopping and dining options

Several attractive retail plazas offer a host of shopping and dining options within easy reach. Locals can get a morning pick-me-up at Better Buzz Coffee on West San Marcos Boulevard. Broken Yolk is a top choice for healthy wraps, bowls, and omelets. In the same shopping center, residents can grab groceries at Sprouts and shop at Nordstrom and Marshalls. For a sweet treat, locals head to Handel’s Ice Cream. “Handel’s an awesome ice cream spot that started small and is still expanding,” Erickson says. Handel’s recently opened its 100th store and now operates in 11 states. Old California Restaurant Row, a plaza once filled with dining options, is currently under redevelopment by the city. The space will be transformed into San Marcos Restaurant Row, a mixed-used destination with new restaurants, shops and housing.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
