GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

School is lax on rules and consequences and students have no respect to their superiors. It leads to a chaotic balance and feels like a less safe environment

During my years at West Mesa High, I have learned quite a lot. All of this is due to my specific teachers really caring about my education and wanting me to be successful. Although the school area is not the best, I learned to adapt and make the best out of my 3 years there.

I really enjoy going to West Mesa high School. You can find teachers that really care about you and understand you. You feel right at home when you walk down the hallways and hear people spraying in Spanish. Many nice people that you can call your friends. The worst part is the bathrooms as they where always full of people smoking. The school sometimes was really dirty mostly the bathrooms. And I blame that on your students from lower grades. They really thought it was funny to make the bathrooms ugly and dirty. But I really think that my school tried really hard to have everything for us. They always tried to clean everything as fast as they could. I would like that the school would get more staff to clean the whole school and make it nice and pretty. That what I would change. I would also like to have more school spirit in are students and teachers.

We left a higher rated school due to bullying, teacher inadequacies and principle unresponsiveness. I regret not moving my child earlier. My daughter has thrived since the move. We were worried due to rating sites like this one. I am very glad we did not go by what we saw/read here.

For the most part it’s ok. There are some wonderful teachers who have and continue to have a positive impact on my child’s learning. Mr. Andrew Vigil and Ms. LouAnn Fayter are two that make such a difference in their students lives and their learning.

My wife and myself both went to West Mesa Class of 91 and it was a great school back then over crowded bust still a lot of successful adults came out of that area. Now as a father of 3 I have had to make the choices of where to send my children to high school. My oldest now 24 went to St. Pius. grea...
