Hall monitors would constantly allow fights to happen. The teachers and guidance counselors don't care for the kids. The student body itself is extremely chaotic and out of control at times.

There's nothing special about this school, food is gross but at least it's free, bathrooms are dirty and hardly ever open for students, but the academics are sufficient. Overall not a very memorable experience.

Amsterdam was fine while I attended. The school needs to better prepare for upcoming freshman because the 2017-2018 year was horrible, the schedules were a disaster and our principal left halfway through the year. Hall monitors are a little too friendly with "trouble students" but other than that Amsterdam isn't a terrible school.

Our daughters are both K-12 graduates of Amsterdam. One is a paralegal after graduating from SUNY Albany. The other graduated from Columbia University and went on to Temple Medical School in Philadelphia and just graduated as an MD/MA.As with any school you get out what you put in.

Terrible experience and felt I didn't learn anything critical.

The administration is horrible. The guidance department is worse. There are some good teachers but that can't make up for filthy bathrooms that often have no soap dispensers, leaking ceiling tiles and a principal that has no leadership skills. The environment is not conducive to learning.

For example, the school focuses too much on sports (especially on football) than extracurricular activities and classes.
