Anaheim Coves
A public school, located on E. South Street in the heart of South Anaheim, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School serves approximately 550 students from kindergarten through sixth grade. The school is one of the 24 that make up the Anaheim Elementary School District.
Thomas Jefferson Elementary puts a strong emphasis on inquiry, data and problem solving as well as science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). In addition, the school works to ensure that students’ social and emotional well being is being cared for as well. Jefferson Elementary offers a number of district-sponsored programs, including a unique Dual Language Immersion program, the only one in the district that offers Korean. Beginning in kindergarten, students are taught using a model that will enable them to think, read, write and communicate naturally in both Korean and English. Classes are mixed with students who are both native English and native Korean speakers.
The school also offers a Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE) that is designed to meet the academic needs of exceptionally promising students in grades three through six. Jefferson Elementary also has a Parent and Family Engagement Policy that helps to facilitate and ensure that parents and caregivers play an active role in their student’s education.
Jefferson Elementary offers an award-winning, YMCA-run after school program, known as Anaheim Achieves, that provides a variety of fun and engaging activities for students that help to reinforce the curriculum being taught during the school day.
