Faith, family, and academic excellence are the cornerstones of Lumen Christi High School, a Catholic school that serves 7th – 12th-grade students of all denominations in Anchorage’s Sand Lake neighborhood. Lumen’s academic standards are high, and the school creates an environment to ensure students meet them. Small class sizes give teachers the flexibility to adapt their lesson plans to meet student needs and means they can provide individual attention to every student. Alongside core subjects and a theology course, students can choose from several electives to enrich their education, including art, debate, drama, and leadership. Six-week intensives in topics such as culinary arts and automotive maintenance provide hands-on learning opportunities and are chosen based on student interest. Extracurriculars and service to others are also important parts of the Lumen experience. More than 80% of Lumen students are involved in at least one extracurricular activity, which includes co-ed and boys/girls sports teams. Annual retreats allow students to grow in their faith, which they then put into action by volunteering their time to the school, the church, and the community. With more than 90% of its graduates going on to attend a four-year college or university, Lumen is an excellent option for parents who want a different school experience for their children.

Lumen Christi High School has small class sizes and teaches who genuinely care about the students and their grades. Help is always available and the staff is kind and charismatic.

I have 1 graduate and 2 current students. My husband and I agree this is the best investment we have made in our children's future. The staff and students live out their beliefs and values in the classroom, doing community service and in their extracurricular activities.
