The best part of West Anchorage High School was the ability to connect with other students. The concern falls upon the administrators, who have lacked in preparing students for college until the past year.

I used to go to a highschool in Idaho and I transferred to West my Sophomore year, so far it has been AMAZING. I've never been in a place with this much diversity (ranked #3 in America), and I think it's amazing how all cultures are celebrated and shared. I finally feel acceptance here, in the town I grew up in, it was not okay to be gay, I was shamed for it since I came out and now I am so glad to be here, a place where I can finally be myself. I love West so much, and of course it has its cons, but the pros outweigh those by A LOT.

I have enjoyed my experience at West Anchorage High School so far. There are many higher level class opportunities as many AP and IB courses are offered. The IB diploma program also provides students with opportunities to pursue education at top universities after high school. Some of the teaching and counseling staff are unfriendly and I have had several bad encounters with the tech. workers at our school.
