Part of the Charleston County School District, Angel Oak Elementary is located at 6134 Chisolm Road on Johns Island. The school enrolls approximately 640 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade within District 9 and is attended by the young residents of Johns Island.
Included in the school’s curriculum is a robust arts program that includes dance, music, visual art, Spanish and more. A STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) makerspace was developed for students to explore the subjects within a collaborative and creative environment. After-school programs include drama, cooking clubs and sports while Angel Oak’s onsite garden inspires students to learn more about conservation and sustainability.
Community partners within the arts and educational venues have supported the school through grants. Boasting a modest student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1, students are able to receive individualized help if needed.
Its guiding principles of integrating the arts, innovation, collaboration and communication within its curriculum and between student and teachers showcase the many ways in which Angel Oak continues to be an exemplary school.

We just moved here in March from a great school district in MD and have been very pleasantly surprised by how wonderful my sons school year was here. His teacher was wonderful and the staff is very helpful and engaged. We are thrilled to be sending our son back next year.
