The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Our time at WTMC has been EXTREMELY STRESSFUL. There is an "us" (staff) vs. "them" students atmosphere, the staff mistreats the students by ignoring emails, not following up, stating "that's not my job" and "I don't know" and leaving it at that, giving conflicting information (guessing the right answer) and I personally witnessed the admin asst yelling at my student more than once. One of their big draws is "soft skills" which the staff doesn't implement themselves. They put undue stress on these high school students by treating them as college kids claiming they are preparing them for college, rather than guiding, assisting and encouraging them. Due to the ineptness of the teachers as counselors, my student didn't have the classes necessary to get into college and was told to call another school to get the class she needed and to call the college she chose to find out their entry requirements. In other words, you (14 to 17) year olds, figure it out on your own.

Washtenaw Technical Middle College is really nice, it's a nice thing to have a jump start on college/universities since I'll be graduating with an associate's degree and a high school diploma. I was able to try out different majors all free of cost since I am a high schooler and see which one I enjoyed the most. A downside to doing this though is teachers tend to forget we're still teenagers, we go to class with other college students but we've got the mindset of a teenager and it makes most of the stuff harder for us to maintain.

What I liked about WTMC is the chance for early college and being able to graduate with my associates as well. I also liked the ability of being a college student so early on. Any suggestions I would make is the staff and how they helped students and being a little better about it.
My brother has graduated with an Associates in Elementary Education, and has successfully transferred to Eastern Michigan University. That has inspired me to transfer from my original high school to WTMC to work for a college education and receive my diploma. So far, I'm enjoying the school, and the...
