Battlefield Park Elementary, also known as the Home of the Bobcats, serves just under 400 students in pre-K through fifth grades. Collaborating with Virginia Commonwealth University’s College of Engineering, the school hosts an Innovation Day. Faculty and students from the VCU’s College of Engineering partner with staff and students of Battlefield to implement and engage in innovative, hands-on activities. Battlefield also takes pride in academic success. This school provides a mathematical coach who works with students and teachers to inspire them in the math area. The coach works closely with teachers to help design, implement, and reflect on math instruction in the classroom. This math intervention program has demonstrated positive results on state tests with the school placing 10 percent higher on math state tests than the average scores in Virginia, which demonstrates the high academic standards and success at this school despite the student-to-teacher ratio being above the state average at 16:1.
Resources offered at Battlefield are art, music, library, and PE. For library time, not only do students have a voice in what books they want to read to inspire a passion for reading, but students also participate in coding and integrating 21st-century technology skills while at the library for resource time.

Battlefield has been a great school for our daughter. The teachers have been great and the school nurse has been awesome with keeping us in the loop on the few occasions that our daughter has had to go in there.
