West Junior High was established in 1959 and has provided quality educational opportunities throughout Southwest Boise since that time. In 2008, the school opened its new West Salt Creek Street campus to better meet the community's needs.
West Junior High strives to prepare all students for success by providing academic rigor, social support, innovative instruction and school-wide traditions. The West Junior High Mustang inspires students to be honest, respectful, compassionate, courageous and show integrity as they work together.
The school's new campus offers students a wide range of amenities including 42 modern classrooms, four science labs, a 1,000-seat performance gymnasium, a separate practice gymnasium, a full-sized track, three football fields, three softball fields, a soccer field, five basketball courts and four tennis courts.
Students are encouraged to explore their passions through academic study, drama, music and several athletic programs, including track and field, football, junior varsity wrestling, tennis, basketball and cheerleading. When it comes to extracurriculars, West Junior High students can’t get enough. Kids love the annual school events the school hosts which include dances, school spirit days and fundraisers.
West Junior High alums consistently regard their time at the school with fond memories, making the school a staple of education and development.

I have always felt very safe at West. We have a regular security officer, and the administration seems to be very serious about protecting the student body from threats. However, the most serious issues I've heard of were rumors of a student bringing a knife to school or being suspended for suicide threats.

I've had two children at West and it has been a fantastic experience for both of them. They are placed where they needed to be academically and have had phenomenal teachers. Counselor was helpful whenever we needed something. Both of my kids love going there.

I am so pleased with West JHS. I love the uniform policy, I believe it helps alot with steering the focus more toward acedemics and sports. The teachers make sure to stay in touch and help when students grades start to slip or homework is not being turned in. I would definately recommend this school...
