Established in 2004 and spanning grades 6 through 8, R. Dan Nolan Middle School is a public school in the Manatee County school district.
The approximately 1,200 students can choose from a variety of elective classes, including band, art, technology, Spanish and journalism. The school has its own state-of-the-art film production studio as well as a small farm with pigs, cows and chickens for those students interested in exploring a career in agriculture.
Nolan, which has a Colt as its mascot, also competes against other schools in several sports, such as soccer, cross country, basketball and volleyball.
Student test scores run slightly higher than the state average, and the school has its own chapters of the National Junior Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and HOSA: Future Health Professionals. Students in both FBLA and HOSA take part in district and regional competitions and attend conferences.
The school’s mission is to inspire students with a passion for learning, empowered to pursue their dreams confidently and creatively, while contributing to their community, nation and world.
Located in a residential area, the middle school is close to a main road, making drop-off and pick-up easier. Buses also service the school.

Beware of your child has a 504 or IEP. They don’t care about children with learning disabilities it’s always parents and child’s fault, never the teachers. If I had the financial option I would homeschool or private school.

I would have to agree with most of the reviews I’ve read. The staff is not the best, I have little complaints with the teachers, but the administrative staff......I have been shocked at the way they have spoken to me, that it makes me wonder how they treat the students.
