Al Madrasa Al Islamiya is a private coed Islamic school serving early childhood through middle school students in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Founded in 1977 in Staten Island, the school moved to Brooklyn in 1987 in order to support a larger population of students. Since 1998, the school has been located on 3rd Avenue and 53rd Street, just one block from the 53rd Street R subway station. Pre-kindergarten curriculum includes Islamic manners, group games, physical education, science, math, Qur’anic recitation, listening activities and communication skills in English, all in an effort to comprehensively prepare students for kindergarten and beyond. Curriculum beyond pre-kindergarten includes Common Core English language arts and reading comprehension, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, as well as a variety of religious courses. Students graduate eighth grade with Regents credit in algebra and biology. Al Madrasa Al Islamiya students also enjoy school trips and an engaging education that helps each child reach their fullest potential in a spiritual and intellectual learning environment.
