Located at 511 South Buena Vista Street in Burbank, Providence is a private, coed Catholic college preparatory school founded by the Sisters of Providence. Established in 1955, Providence High School opened as an all-girls school with 81 female students who attended the first two months of school under a circus tent in the school parking lot, as the building had not yet been completed. In 1974, the Archdiocese declared the school coed and admitted male students. In the 1980s, attendance dropped to an all-time low of less than 200 students, threatening the future of the school. A strong commitment from both parents and community was able to elevate the student population to 400 and save the institution from closure. Today, Providence services ninth through twelfth grades and student enrollment totals 477. Providence High School offers three primary focus programs which include cinema arts, medical and technology. In addition, academic programs include English, mathematics, performing arts, physical education, religious studies, science, visual arts and world languages. The average class size consists of around 17 students per class. Providence boasts a 100% graduation rate with 86% of graduating students going on to attend a four-year college.

The abundant school spirit is something that Providence prides itself on and is something, I believe, that has enhanced the high school experience.

I have been involved in many programs throughout my years at Providence. I am a part of the medical focus program and have branched out to different opportunities because of the amazing staff members at Providence. Overall I am very pleased with my high school academic experience. I know where ever I go to college I will represent the school confidently knowing that I am ready for the next step in my academic career.

I do love the school and many of the teachers, but they have made notable mistakes. Including when they had to use an online course for an AP physics class which caused some adjustment issues. Overall, There are not other mistakes on that magnitude, but there are minor annoyances that cause it to fall from being perfect.

My child graduated about 2 years ago and we did not have a good experience with the teachers and staff. We felt unsupported and unseen when it came to issues of bullying. A teacher screamed in my child's face and when we brought it up to the admin, nothing was done, this happened multiple times with...

This is our second year at Providence, and our sophomore is thriving. They've built a strong group of friends and often call upon each other for social and academic support. My child enjoys her teachers and feels sufficiently challenged by the curriculum. We think they are safe & heard at Providence...

This school is becoming corporate. What made Providence unique was its close community even among admin and students. Providence was an amazing environment because students were listened to and felt comfortable with every faculty member. Thanks to the new head of school this is all gone. The identit...

As a new parent, I like the environment and the teaching styles, methods, and strategies of the teachers, and the school's administration. Providence size is not a big school, which is why we like it for my daughter who is a shy person who develops her good self-esteem because of the support of the...
