GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience at west Mecklenburg has been a great one, I was a transfer from Olympic high school and was really nervous to go here for my junior year because of what news outlets and TV had told me. Until I moved here, while this school does look older than most, it's a welcoming environment where kids can really come and be themselves without being bullied or made fun of. you never had to talk or fake being yourself around people. It's a very diverse school and the trio as well as CIS, Culinary, Computer science, and Latin American/ African American studies classes really take it over the top and will give you such a good time while you're working towards your high school diploma. Just because it's old doesn't mean bad. Staff are very involved and do care, we're losing a lot of teachers which is with every school but they're doing the best they can and that's all that matters. 10/10 Definitely will be back. Changed my life in more good than bad and I can truly say that I enjoyed it.

My experience with West Mecklenburg High school was fine. The school is highly diverse. It seems the teachers do the bare minimum, it gets the job done though.

West Mecklenburg wasn't as bad as people said it would be, it was all about finding your own path and sticking to your own morals and getting good grades

Administration is terribly unsupportive, unresponsive, unprofessional, and lacking in overall professionalism. Overcrowded due to an entire side of the city being forced into the school despite many other high schools being in the area. Transportation is a nightmare. Athletics are a joke, they haven...

This school needs some major improvement. I feel that many of the staff members lack professionalism, and the teachers are not really teaching or safeguarding the children. The school is old and is poorly cleaned. My child complained about how disgusting the restrooms are and how they hardly ever ha...

My daughter is a freshman and is in JROTC. The principal and staff are very caring. The PTSA and the booster club really care about the students and what they are trying to do. They had an excellent Athletic program with great coaches expecially coach Lawing. They also have many different options fo...
