Branded as a School of Excellence, the school is named after famed 20th-century Spanish and Puerto Rican cellist Pablo Casals, known for his recordings and performances of Beethoven. Opened in 1989 and renovated in 2012, Casals Elementary boasts 28 classrooms and serves over 400 students with a 17:1 student-to-teacher ratio.
With a vision to create a multi-cultural community, Casals seeks to engrain students with self-motivation, independent thinking, leadership skills, and a love of lifelong learning. This school tends to all the needs of the students. Just recently students received iPads to have a more interactive learning style with teachers. Along with that they have been many remodeling projects done to give the Jo a fresh new look.

This school has been rated number 23 in Chicago - including Charter and selective enrollment schools. It is an amazing place to send your kids if you want a quality education with high expectations for students.

they have bullies, bias teachers kids fighting ?, I can say as a former student of Casals , THIS SCHOOL IS NOT GOOD !! Kids are still arguing till this day.

This school is struggling. There are good teachers but I don’t think the principle is a good leader. The city of Chicago needs to care more about the youth and the future of these city.

As a past student of Casals I have to say that my experience was unpleasant. The school was understaffed as the vice principal was a teacher for MULTIPLE classes, you were not allow to have any type of hot chips in the lunchroom, there was a point in time when the students threw bricks at eachother....
