Frederic Chopin Elementary is a neighborhood school with magnet and cluster programs. The enrollment zone covers parts of the Ukrainian Village and Humboldt Park areas. Around 300 students attend pre-kindergarten through eighth grade here.
Following the motto of "Moving Forward Together," there's plenty of forward movement here at Chopin. In terms of facilities improvements, this school was selected for upgrades in a 2018 citywide initiative. Upgrades for wheelchair accessibility went underway recently. There's even a 1:1 student-to-device ratio so that everyone can learn with Chromebooks and iPads.
Chopin is receiving some support from the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) system, mostly due to its low score attainment. However, it's in a high percentile for score growth, with test scores on the rise over the last eight years. There's also a low-incidence cluster program for autism here — around 30 percent of Chopin students meet the CPS qualifications for diverse-learner status.
Students can specialize here via two magnet programs with unique study tracks. The first is a fine and performing arts program with a school orchestra. The second is a math and science track. Additionally, everyone has access to After-School All-Stars, tutoring and other extended-day programs.

My daughter is in special ed where she has access to art and music, and has a well grounded classroom made up of caring staff who don't believe in making excuses.
