Roberto Clemente Community Academy has been a public neighborhood high school for about 130 years. It serves 605 students from sections of Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square, Humboldt Park and Ukrainian Village. Updated facilities and robust career education programs set it apart from other schools. An International Baccalaureate World School, it offers three career and technical education options: culinary arts, allied health and broadcast technology. The culinary program has two full professional kitchens and a dining room. Broadcast students use a new classroom complex with two production studios, green screen facilities, studio cameras, prompters and field equipment. Those who choose allied health eventually go off-campus, interning at partner hospitals. With lower-than-average performance metrics, Clemente is receiving intensive support from the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) system. On the bright side, there are improvements in multiple categories. Additionally, five-year graduation rates and SAT scores here both exceed CPS averages. Aside from the career education facilities, there are plenty of other resources available to help students succeed. Clemente’s sports center includes a 25-meter swimming pool, two gyms and a weight room. There's also baseball, soccer and softball fields, and two tennis courts. Add that to three art rooms, three music rooms, science labs and a health center, and you have a well-equipped high school. Clemente is a neighborhood high school with a specific attendance area, but it also uses a citywide lottery system for some of its academic tracks. Take a look at the specific enrollment processes if one of the programs interests you.

My freshman year was online, and I went to school in person since mid of sophomore. During the first weeks, since students were not used to the school schedule, there would always be complaints since we weren't allowed to bring our phones to our classes. Also, the school organization was just bad. The staff was not prepared to teach kids. But now, as a senior and with a new principal, the school has gotten better by a lot. They listen to the students more and try to solve problems that the school has.

I really like the way they taught in clemente and how they handle the school. They didn't allow phones in school but it was still fun the way they had the school set up for us.

What I like about Clemente is the various CTE classes the school offers. I've been in Allied Health since my sophomore year and I have been really enjoying it. I've learned a lot from that class. Especially since COVID, the school staff and teachers and principals have been doing so much for us students, in terms of graduating, getting by and being our support system in such a hard time. I would like there to more diverse in Clemente, because I think diversity is what really makes a school a schoolS
