Erie Elementary School is a non-profit public charter school serving the northwest side of Chicago. Founded by the Erie Neighborhood House, a social service agency, the school seeks to provide a just and inclusive education focusing on dual language learning and multiculturalism. The school's rigorous academic curriculum combines arts and Spanish language proficiency programs. Erie Elementary serves nearly 400 students in grades K-8. The school seeks to cultivate empowered students and lifelong learners who will thrive in a diverse global society. Erie's responsive classrooms provide both group and individual-based education to prepare all students for higher education. Erie Elementary's modern state-of-the-art campus was completed in 2013 in the Wicker Park Neighborhood. The school hosts a robust volunteer program for tutors in math and reading, as well as numerous opportunities for parental engagement in their child's education and community involvement. Extracurricular activities include choir, basketball, chess club and a book club. Students can also participate in afterschool programs and other Erie Neighborhood House programs in the community.
