Nash Elementary School (Nash Elementary) Tigers pursue personal and scholastic success on the West Side of Chicago. Serving Austin's preschool through eighth grades, Nash Elementary School's creative curriculum inspires students to become lifelong and self-aware learners. Named after one of Chicago National Bank's 19th-century founders, Henry H. Nash, Nash Elementary encourages excellence and independent thinking in students with innovative and unique educational methods. The school’s academic approach includes science and math-based problem-solving models and daily journal writing. Internet access in the classroom and a computer lab further encourage students to reach their highest potential. In 2019, the school welcomed a new "Space to Grow" schoolyard as part of the Healthy Schools Campaign and Openlands program. Shared with Knowledge Is Power Program Academy in Chicago, the outdoor recreational area features a turf field, track, paving stones, wood-chipped surfaces, climbing equipment, rain gardens, an outdoor classroom and a half-court basketball area to promote physical activity and engagement with the natural environment. Built on enthusiasm for students' varied learning needs and a desire to see children grow into healthy young adults, Nash Elementary Tigers aim for fiercely fulfilling futures.
