The Louis B. Nettelhorst School serves the Lakeview neighborhood kindergarten through eighth grade students at 3252 North Broadway Ave. Named after Louis Nettelhorst, Sr., a German immigrant who headed the Chicago Board of Education from 1888 to 1892, the school features historical architecture and was founded almost 150 years ago in 1892.

A wonderful magnet school emphasizing arts and music but also strong in academics. Love how connected it is with the neighborhood and the wonderful principal, teachers and staff, who address the individual needs of students.

The days of Nettlehorst being a THE neighborhood school to send your children to are over. Safety and bullying are are deep concern. The decline begins in 5th grade. The safety of this school is a significant concern. Racism and bullying are prevalent issues, and there is a lack of emotional support available. There aren’t enough words to express how awesome this school is. The teachers are amazing and I adore Dr. Marburger the principle and AP Ulmer. They are both present and engaged and great leases for the school. I am thrilled to be a Stallion parent.
