The Louis B. Nettelhorst School serves the Lakeview neighborhood kindergarten through eighth grade students at 3252 North Broadway Ave. Named after Louis Nettelhorst, Sr., a German immigrant who headed the Chicago Board of Education from 1888 to 1892, the school features historical architecture and was founded almost 150 years ago in 1892.
The Nettelhorst Elementary School currently enrolls 753 students who enjoy an average class size of 28 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 15-to-1. As an alum of Nettelhorst Elementary School, I can strongly say that I am nostalgic about my elementary school experience. I loved my teachers -- they built me into the person I am today -- and the diversity was exciting to grow up with. I made friends easy, and loved the culture threaded throughout the school. GO STALLIONS!!

As a student from Nettelhorst School, i truly believe that this school is super awesome. It's teachers are extremely nice, the school lunch is not bad, and overall, this school is very nice and i would definitely recommend

I liked that I was part of the music and theatre programs there and that it was more of an artsy school. I really learned about myself and my love for art and the teachers were really supportive and it was generally a supportive atmosphere in which to grow up.

There aren’t enough words to express how awesome this school is. The teachers are amazing and I adore Dr. Marburger the principle and AP Ulmer. They are both present and engaged and great leases for the school. I am thrilled to be a Stallion parent.

As a parent at Nettlehorst Elementary, I am alarmed by the ongoing failures in leadership under Principal Dr. Joshua Marburger. Despite repeated concerns raised by families and staff, the administration has not taken meaningful action to address blatant racism and sexism within the school community....

Both my sons went to nettlehorst ! From principal to counselor, coaches and teachers there is a huge emphasis on learning, inclusion, individuality, creativity, self expression and empathy!
