The Wilson School in Clayton blends traditional curriculum with specialized programs designed to meet children where they are. Nearly 200 pre-kindergarten through sixth grade students attend the private school which was established in 1913, making it one of the oldest in the area.
With class sizes of 18 to 20 students and two full-time teachers in each class, students receive personalized attention as they learn through innovative coursework. The Wilson School makes each grade special, providing different programs geared to the different age groups.
Children in pre-kindergarten benefit from curriculum that is tied to the full academic program, as well as studies by specialists in French, PE and Art.
First graders take part in an animal research project, coding begins in second grade and third graders learn about the world through a partnership that pairs the class with one in a different country. Fourth grade students participate in the time-honored tradition of the buddy program, which pairs them with a pre-kindergarten student to participate in various activities.
Fifth and sixth graders present a musical and participate in a yearlong photography unit, as well as field trips to Memphis and Little Rock for a civil rights unit.
The specialized coursework combined with an accelerated curriculum prepare these students to go on to some of the most prestigious secondary schools in the area.

Wilson is a fantastic, small school with amazing teachers. Small class sizes, high parent involvement, and great connections. It's great to know that every time my kid walks through the doors, every teacher knows who he is. This creates an amazing culture.

Not a school you should root for. Teachers aren't on your side a lot. Preschool is mediocre. Athletics are okay.
