St. Joseph Academy was founded in 1890 by the Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph. It is the only all-girls Catholic high school in Cleveland.
Th school has college-based block scheduling where students have four 85-minute classes each day.
Special programs that help prepare students for college include a health sciences honors program, engineering and design honors program, global scholars program, as well as AP and independent study courses. Students can choose from more than 15 varsity sports with more than half of its student population participating in more than 50 clubs. Community service is also an important component in the faith-filled environment. Unique options available to students include a Women Leading in the 21st Century class, an annual Women’s Leadership Symposium and a Professional Shadowing Program. St. Joseph Academy has advanced technology tools, including a 4,800-square-foot Howley Makerspace innovation lab, a 3D dissection table and Google Tilt Brush systems for students to prepare for potential careers in health sciences, mathematics, engineering and design.

For the most part my experience was good. There were a few times when there were problems throughout the school that administration did not address.

Overall my time at Saint Joseph Academy was good, however there were some things that I felt could be improved upon. There were very strict rules regarding where students could eat, which were difficult to follow because there was not always enough seating in the dining hall. The staff would come around and yell at us if we were eating in a different location. I felt that it was unfair for students to be forced to stay on campus when they were not in classes, meaning that if a student had a study hall at the beginning or end of the day they could not come in late or leave early.

I love SJA. It is such a welcoming community, and very tight knit. There are some teachers who feel like your best friend, as they are just that welcoming and have such a great vibe to them. Everyone here is so nice, and there truly is a sport or club for everyone. There are so many ways to get involved, it's amazing.

Beautiful campus, friendly & caring teachers, many choices of extracurricular activities. My daughter loves it and felt comfortable very quickly - was able to find new friends even during this crazy time with lockdowns, virtual and hybrid learning, and face coverings.
