As the only high school in the Coronado Unified School District, Coronado High School (CHS) plays a pivotal role in educating local students. CHS sits in the center of Coronado Island in close proximity to the local elementary and middle school. With just over 1,200 students across three grades, the school is decidedly mid-size but still feels intimate thanks to a tight-knight and generous community. In addition to state-of-the-art classrooms, the school offers a football field and aquatics complex and is positioned next to the Coronado Public Library, tennis courts and Spreckels Park. With over 20 AP and 5 Honors courses offered, there’s no shortage of challenging coursework for students. For those more arts-minded, Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) is a school-within-a-school on the campus of CHS. Students who choose to enroll can choose to major in disciplines ranging from instrumental music to visual arts or digital media. I feel that some teachers at CHS may have unintentionally contributed to a classroom environment that didn't feel entirely inclusive or fair. I hope the school can address these issues to ensure that every student feels respected and valued, regardless of background. It's important to foster an environment where all students feel welcome and supported.

Coronado is a great community. It is safe and all of the schools in the district are very close together. It is a beautiful outdoor campus and students have the opportunity to get free lunch and breakfast. The school is very lacking in diversity and has a range of students in different socioeconomic families. It was recently switched to a quarter system which has been challenging for course work and AP classes.

The teachers provide excellent ooo to sum tus eat and really work to engage everyone. The environment of the school is working to be more culturally sensitive.

We are here for the 4x4 Academics. The teachers are better than we expected.
