McAuliffe Manual shares an historic campus with Manual High School. As a Pathways school, the middle school works in tandem with the high school to offer advanced classes, shadowing, and career exploration. In addition, the shared campus offers science labs, a gymnasium and pool, and a thousand seat auditorium. The school is deeply invested in a relationship with the community, and students are encouraged to choose from many volunteer opportunities and log their hours. In addition, community organizations and services are involved with the school, offering classes for the Enrichment program, participating in the career fair, and engaging students outside the classroom. McAuliffe Manual Middle School prides itself on a rigorous academic program that meets students where they are. The school offers a Multi-Intensive Center for students with special needs where the focus is on keeping them on track with their peers. The Gifted and Talented program places students in advanced classes and offers enrichment activities and participation in the DPS Shakespeare Festival and the Optimist Brain Bowl. The school also offers an athletics program including softball, soccer, and volleyball. Because McAuliffe Manual engages the whole student, Physical Education classes are a total of three and a half hours per week, which is greater than the average of 52 minutes for middle school students nationwide.
