Located at the north border of Mountain View, La Primaria Elementary School serves students from kindergarten to fifth grade. The home of the Lion Cubs places a strong emphasis on reading skills and participates in the Waterford Early Reading program, a project developed by the Waterford Institute, an educational non-profit. Students between kindergarten and second grade spend time in a reading lab daily. As a result of its efforts, La Primaria received recognition from the institute as a "National Best Practice" site.
The school partners with a local community service group to run a farmer's market during the spring. School staff and students work together to run the market that benefits local farmers and provides residents with fresh produce.
The school also organizes a spring obstacle course fundraiser open to the community and features fun outdoor activities including a color run.
The school is adjacent to the Emerald Necklace, a 17-mile-long nature trail in the San Gabriel Valley. La Primaria's recreational facilities include two play areas, swing sets, a paved court for games and a large field next to the nature trail.

This is a very good school. The teachers, principal are awesome and friendly. My son went to this school 6 years and got highly educated toward academics and athletic wise. I am so happy and grateful for this school. I wish this school will go more successful.

I love this school. My son is now in 3rd grade and has been here since kinder. He has had Mrs. Gentry, Mrs. Guzman, Mrs. Salcido & now Mrs Salce all whome I have LOVED! The school has the best rating in el monte an surrounding. We moved out of the district but have remained in the school on a permit...
