With almost 4,300 students, the massive Elsik High School is like its own ecosystem. If you like aquatic ecosystems, there’s even a natatorium on the campus. Most of Elsik’s action takes place at its ninth through twelfth grade campus at 12601 High Star Drive, but there’s also a ninth-grade center at 6767 Dairy Ashford Road. Headquartered at both Elsik campuses is the Alief International Academy. Although most Alief students are assigned to their high school by a computerized lottery, admittance to the International Academy guarantees you'll go to Elsik. This school-within-a-school aims to develop multilingual, globally competent, college- and career-ready citizens. International Academy students are expected to study two languages and learn to think critically about challenging global issues. International Academy students also participate in regular classes and extracurricular activities including athletics, if they choose to do so. The Mighty Rams football and basketball teams are well-known in Houston and throughout Texas. Another option open to Elsik students is top-of-the-line career and vocational training. After taking introductory classes, students spend part of their day at Alief’s career center to complete certifications and earn college credit. Fields of study include automotive technology, culinary arts, health and veterinary science, robotics and welding.

It is a very diverse school with a lot of activities to do to get ready for college. It has clubs, activities, and resources ready for student to use. There are safety issues but besides that it's ok.

This year there is a rule requiring clear backpacks, and I did bring one—but it broke. I only have 2 months left before I graduate, so why should I have to buy a new one? I don’t even have anyone to help me get one. When I brought my bag to school, both the AP and the AP secretary saw it and didn’t s...

During my years of being a student I would honestly say Elsik was one of THE WORST school experiences of my entire life, the assistant principals and staff were extremely rude and left me emotionally traumatized however, some of the teachers are very kind and patient to students.
