Compared to what I have heard about other schools in my area, I believe Vanden is the best. Teachers and staff here care about the students, which is very notable. Whenever I need help I know I can go to any of the adults on campus and they will offer guidance. I also think the teachers are very understanding. As someone involved in an extracurricular, if I tell my teachers I didn't have enough time to finish an assignment, the majority of them will give me an extra day because they understand. The one thing though, I would like to see the safety aspect of the school change. 2 years ago in PE, some random lady and her 5 dogs walked onto our football field, and my friends and I thought it was concerning how easy she gained access to our school. Also most of the buildings I feel could use refurbishments. I haven't been in the gym in a while but the last few times I was in there, there was a tarp on the ceiling to cover the water leaking in from the rain.

Overall, Vanden high school seems to be a well educated and clean school. However it seems apparent that it lacks student/school life. Weather that be the leadership, or just the school itself.

My school is very good to be there for students. I enjoy when I'm having a stressful day and can go to the wellness center to have someone to listen to me. Parts my school can improve on is more classes to prepare students for college, such as AVID, which other schools around us have, and taking time to prepare students for the real world. To prep us for the real world, it'd be nice to have classes where we could learn more about how to budget or complete our own taxes.

this school ruined my son's life he came home everyday crying his freshman year saying people dump him in trash cans and more. My son was also racially profiled saying the teachers were treating him differently because of his color. Do not send your children here.
