Falling Creek Elementary School is a public school that is a part of the Chesterfield County School District. This elementary school serves just under 800 students. Because this school is in a fast growing area, Falling Creek was expanded twice since its opening in 1964 to meet the demands of an expanding area. Educating students in grade Pre-Kindergarten through 5th, Falling Creek has a mission to provide a school environment that assists students to achieve higher literacy levels, and to become active in problem solving in a safe way that builds self-esteem, mutual respect, and student success.
Pre-Kindergarten students focus on literacy, social studies, math, and science - all the core subjects that the higher grades learn; however, there is an emphasis on interacting with peers and adults while in the learning environment, regardless of the subject. Falling Creek recognizes the value of social interactions for preschool students in personal and social growth. Students also learn how to socialize both verbally and nonverbally. Beyond core subjects, all students take art classes where they learn to communicate social values and beliefs through art appreciation and creation. Students also have weekly visits to the school library where they engage with lessons that focus on multiple-literacies that are integrated into core-content material.
