If you’re a cost-conscious buyer looking for a suburban Richmond neighborhood, take a look at Fawnbrook. Located near Hull Street Road on the city’s South Side, Fawnbrook has a calm atmosphere and a mix of midcentury ranch-style and New Traditional homes for prices that generally fall below the city’s median. The community feels out-of-the-way and private, but it’s bordered by Chippenham Parkway, giving you quick access to South Side destinations and Downtown Richmond, 11 miles away.

What home styles and prices you can find in Fawnbrook
Most of Fawnbrook’s homes are two-story colonial-style New Traditional split-level houses built in the 1990s, and you’ll also find some streets lined with brick ranch-style and split-level homes built in the 1950s and ‘60s. Lots are spacious, averaging around a quarter of an acre and providing plenty of room for a backyard deck and a paved driveway. Many homes have been updated over the years with new roofs, refreshed interiors and modern systems. The median home sale price is in the lower $300,000s, below Richmond’s overall median and that of Belmont Woods and North Chesterfield, but about the same as nearby Brookhaven Farms. Prices typically range from the mid-$200,000s to the upper $300,000s, and some of the houses are available to rent. “For this area, it is definitely the affordability and the convenience to the city that catch people’s eye,” says Realtor Erin Melton of eXp Realty.
